This month I have been injured.. along with March and April. Anyways, I have been really getting into cooking, baking, and trying new healthy food and snacks because well…. I am bored and have nothing else to do. I found a bunch of new favorite foods and ingredients this month that I want to share!
Bananas are my favorite fruit, and I love using almond milk in my smoothies and oatmeal. When I saw this I got really excited! I would give it a 10/10! It tastes so good, just like dried baby bananas from Trader Joes. The ingredients aren’t the best because there are many added sugars and natural flavors, but it tastes great!
Ok, this is exciting. Eat Pastry cookie dough is a total 10/10 from me! This cookie dough is vegan, therefore making it edible raw. You can also bake it in the oven, but who doesn’t like raw cookie dough! This tastes legit. Seriously, like regular not-healthy-cookie-dough. It is only 60 calories for one cookie, and it low in fat and sugars! I bought it from Whole Foods!
Chips and salty snacks are my weakness. I get the worst cravings for salty foods. I also struggle sometimes to get iron and nutrients that chickpeas provide because well, I do not like regular chickpeas! But these are GOOD. They really taste like peanuts and I am down for it. I would give them an 8/10 because after awhile of eating them they kind of start to taste weird, but as a healthy chip alternative I love them!
I just got these Trader Joes PB&J Chocolate squares today… and MAN!!! This is what I have needed in my life. The inside is perfectly filled with peanut butter and jelly and the dark chocolate is bitter. I give them a 10/10!
I don’t like mango… only dried mango. These literally taste like candy! They are good for in between workouts, but dried fruit does have a lot of sugar. I give these a 9/10 because sometimes I will get a piece that is kind of hard and not so easy to eat. But the flavor is spot on!
I just started using maca powder this month. It has a lot of benefits, especially for female athletes trying to keep their hormones in line. It is also a great source of calcium (aka I need it for my injury). I haven’t seen much of a difference yet because I have been gradually taking it, but I am excited to see the effects!
That is all for my May 2019 Food Favorites! I hope you found some new foods to try! Happy *almost* summer!!
